I love fall.

Yesterday I helped the Lieutenant and my father in law shuttle equipment to their farthest field. Granted I did not get to drive any tractors, I did get to drive the Lieutenant's truck. Yes it is technically "our" truck, but as he puts it, it just isn't right for a man to ride shotgun in his own truck, so I rarely get to drive it. Besides, I have my own 'old man's dream.'

The weather was a breezy 80 degrees and the sun was shining. Dressed in jeans and a comfortable tank-top I rocked out to Shinedown's latest CD and admired all the blazing colors. I tried to get a few pictures, but the camera on my phone is pretty sub-par so you will have to use your imagination a bit.

I arrived at the field a good ten minutes before the Lieutenant (he was pulling a wagon and couldn't safely travel any faster than 35mph). I rolled down the windows, rested my arms on the frame and just sat and watched the planes take off and land, the billows of bean dust roll across the sky and enjoyed the breeze.

Of course I got a little teary watching the Lieutenant doing something he loves (even if he is doing it in a red tractor). I really wish he could farm full time, but unfortunately, it just isn't an option right now. It was nice talking with him on the way home too. Planning and dreaming.

It was a good day.

I *heart* shinedown... they were one of the bands that played at Rock on the Range this summer. They were incredible live.

I saw them in the big city two years ago and they are the only band that I know of that I would rather hear live than on CD. They are incredible live.
